Supermarket

Carrefour Casbeno — If you want something very close, walkable. Keep an eye on the prices.

Coop — For value and quality. Good selection of Italian wines and fresh local cheeses, rarely crowded and pleasantly bright. We go on Sundays, when they take 10% off the whole shop.

Esselunga — For the widest choice. Handy if you are shopping on your way in from the motorway. We use it on weekdays.

Carrefour Masnago — Open at night too. A little pricey, but excellent for emergencies.

Bread

Panettiere Civelli is open mornings only. We go there for one thing in particular: their bocconcini rolls, which we are greedy about.

Local and organic

Orto Uella — Five minutes on foot. A small organic farm run by two women from Casbeno, and you can tell they love it. Seasonal vegetables and whatever else is fresh that week. Message them before you go.

Orto Bio Broggini — Ten minutes by car, near Lake Varese. A family farm everyone around here knows. Very good organic vegetables and local products.

Apicoltura Frattini Diego — Ten minutes by car, in Varese. Organic honey, including honey from right here in Casbeno. Ask and they will show you the lab where it is made.

NaturaSì Masnago — The Italian organic supermarket chain. A bit more expensive than average, but the choice is wide and the quality is excellent. Worth the trip.
