Walks and trekking
Starting from the front door, or a short drive away
Into town, on foot
We are very close to the centre of Varese. Our favourite way in is to walk towards the historic centre through the park of the Giardini Estensi. In the upper part of the gardens, if the bar is open, sit down and have a coffee. It is worth it.
If you would rather take the car, the closest car park to the pedestrian area is in Piazzale Ragazzi del ’99. From there the centre is a couple of minutes on foot.
The Sacro Monte
The most spiritual and striking walk here is the path that links the chapels of the Sacro Monte, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Reaching the village at the top rewards you with breathtaking views, a church, and a hamlet where time has stopped — and, why not, a handful of small restaurants, each better than the last.
An easy one, for everybody
If you prefer nature without the effort, there is a walk that is almost entirely flat and genuinely within everyone’s reach, the kind that reopens your lungs. It starts at the Pensione Irma and ends at the Forte di Orino.
Something a bit harder
For slightly more demanding trekking, Monte Chiusarella is another lovely option.
